Teekca’s Aboriginal Boutique is a unique Aboriginal shop catered to provide gifts crafted by the first peoples of North America. The artisans incorporate the history, geopgraphy and culture into their beautiful wares and artwork by drawing upon the natural resources from the land.
Inside you will discover a bounty of Aboriginal treasures for that special person or a keepsake reminiscent of past generations for yourself. The virtual and actual store hosts a variety of Aboriginal art work and hand crafted items from all Aboriginal ancestry of Canada and across North America. And if we don’t have want your looking for we can work with you to create them. I hope you enjoy.
The boutique is owned and operated by Marilyn Tanner-Spence (Waywayseecappo) and Chief Walter Spence (Fox Lake Cree Nation). They opened their first store in 1997 in Norway House, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba and since expanded to Thompson and at The Forks in Winnipeg. Each location is uniquely different by attempting to meet the demographic needs of the clients. Marilyn is a nurse by profession and has finished her Masters degree before going into retail. Marilyn presently invests all her energy into the three stores. Walter also attained a masters degree and is now the Chief of his community Fox Lake Cree Nation. As a couple, they hope to open a larger Aboriginal boutique & share the beauty of craftsmanship, history, geography & culture of our people.
